UHMW

An extremely low-friction, self-lubricating, highly abrasion-resistant polyethylene.

Example: machined UHMW

What is it?

An extremely low-friction, self-lubricating, highly abrasion-resistant polyethylene. Used for wear strips, conveyor guides, chute liners.

Key behavior

Extremely low friction coefficient and outstanding abrasion resistance — self-lubricating in normal use.

Why choose it

Anywhere something needs to slide against another surface constantly without wearing out or needing lubrication.

Applications

Conveyor wear strips, chute liners, guide rails, marine dock bumpers.

Machining notes

High thermal expansion and somewhat flexible stock — needs rigid fixturing during machining to avoid flexing and dimensional error.
