Nylon (Glass Filled & 6/6)

A high-strength engineering plastic for molded parts that need to stand in for light metal.

Example: molded Nylon (Glass Filled & 6/6)

What is it?

A high-strength engineering plastic; standard Nylon 6/6 for general strength, glass-filled for added stiffness that can substitute for light metal parts.

Key behavior

High mechanical strength and chemical resistance; glass fiber reinforcement adds significant stiffness and reduces mold shrinkage.

Why choose it

Structural brackets, housings, and gears that need more strength than standard plastics provide.

Applications

Power tool housings, automotive under-hood clips, structural brackets, gears.

Processing notes

Glass-filled grades need higher draft angles, particularly on textured surfaces, for clean part ejection.
