What is Heat Staking (Joining)?

Softens a molded plastic post with heat, then reforms it into a mechanical joint that permanently locks two parts together, without fasteners or adhesive.

How it works

A heated tool softens a plastic post that protrudes through a hole in a mating part, then a forming die reshapes the softened tip into a rivet-like head. As the plastic cools, the reformed head mechanically locks the two parts together.
