EDM cuts by electrical erosion, not physical force — useful for hard materials, delicate features, and geometry a cutting tool can't physically reach.
Submerges the part in dielectric fluid and feeds a charged wire through it; the electrical discharge erodes a path through the material. Works well wherever the wire has clear passage above and below the cut.
Machines an electrode into the negative shape of the feature you want, then plunges that charged electrode into the submerged part to erode the cavity. Slower and pricier than wire EDM, but it's how you reach internal, angular, or blind features wire EDM physically can't get to.
