Standard and live-tooling turning for cylindrical parts — pins, shafts, spacers, bushings.
Turning is the standard choice for cylindrical parts — pins, shafts, spacers, bushings, anything with rotational symmetry. Instead of the tool moving around a fixed part, the stock itself spins in a rotating chuck while a fixed-position tool cuts along and across it.
Live tooling upgrades a standard lathe with rotating tools of its own (drills, end mills), so off-axis features — cross-holes, flats, slots — can be cut in the same setup instead of moving the part to a mill afterward. Live-tooling lathes are available at Shenghao.
