What is Painting and Coating?

A liquid coating applied to a molded part's surface to improve appearance, add UV resistance, or provide EMI/RFI shielding where required.

How it works

The molded part is prepped, often lightly abraded or primed for adhesion, then a liquid paint or coating is sprayed or dipped on and cured, either air-dried or oven-cured depending on the coating chemistry.

Benefits

• Wide color and finish range beyond what molded-in color can achieve
• Adds UV and weather resistance for outdoor parts
• Conductive coatings add EMI/RFI shielding for electronics enclosures
• Can mask cosmetic flow lines or knit lines from molding

Applications

Outdoor housings needing UV stability, automotive interior and exterior trim, electronics enclosures needing EMI shielding, and any part where the molded resin's stock color isn't the final spec.
