What is Zinc Plating?

An electroplating process that deposits a protective zinc layer onto steel or other ferrous parts, primarily for corrosion protection.

How it works

Similar electroplating principle to nickel plating — the part is submerged in a zinc-based electrolyte bath and current deposits a thin, even layer of zinc onto the surface.

Benefits

  • Strong, cost-effective corrosion protection for steel parts
  • Zinc sacrifices itself to protect the base metal if the coating is scratched (galvanic protection)
  • Clear or black finish options

Applications

Common on steel fasteners, brackets, and structural hardware where corrosion protection matters more than cosmetic appearance.
