An electroplating process that deposits a thin, hard chromium layer onto a part, typically over a base layer of nickel, for a bright, durable, corrosion-resistant surface.
The part (often already nickel-plated as a base layer) is submerged in a chromium-based electrolyte bath, and electric current deposits a thin, hard chromium layer on top.
Used where both a high-end cosmetic finish and real durability are needed — visible hardware, fittings, and wear surfaces.
