An electrochemical process that smooths and brightens stainless and steel surfaces while improving corrosion resistance.

What is Electropolishing?

An electrochemical process that removes a thin layer of material from a metal part's surface, leaving it smoother, brighter, and more corrosion resistant than the starting surface.

How it works

The part is submerged in an electrolyte bath and made the anode in an electrical circuit. Current dissolves microscopic high points on the surface faster than the low points, smoothing the surface at a microscopic level and removing embedded free iron and machining contamination in the process.

Applications

Medical and food-grade stainless steel components, and any stainless or steel part where corrosion resistance and cleanability matter more than cosmetic cost. Often specified after passivation.
